The Children with Medical Handicaps Program

The Children with Medical Handicaps Program (previously called Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps) is a health care program in the Ohio Department of Health that links families of children with special health care needs to a network of quality providers and helps families obtain payment for the services their children need. Assistance is provided to children under the age of 21 who are residents of the state of Ohio.


The Children with Medical Handicaps Program has three core programs for children with special health care needs:

Treatment 

Service coordination


Lawrence County Health Department works closely with the CMH program to provide essential services to children with special health care needs and their families in their local communities.
