The Lawrence County Health Department offers tobacco cessation classes to adults, both individual and group sessions. For times and locations, see information on the right. The Ohio QUIT Line is recommended to all clients who cannot attend classes. Health care providers in the area are trained to recommend our cessation program or the QUIT line.
We provide information and assistance to schools and workplaces desiring to develop smoke-free areas. Health fairs and displays are set up to educate the public about second-hand smoke, smokeless tobacco, and cessation. Funding for these activities comes from the Ohio Department of Health Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation Program.
To become involved with tobacco prevention activities, join the Lawrence County QUIT Coalition. This coalition meets bi-monthly, the third Thursday, at 9:30 a.m. at the Early Childhood Center, South Point, OH.
